Pubs supporting charities and local communities

Ram Inn Brundall

The beating heart of our communities

When it comes to giving back to the community, any gesture, big or small can make a massive difference. Pubs for some are a place to relax, catch up with friends or enjoy a mealfor others, pubs have become a life-line

Despite their own industry in crippling hardship, publicans up and down the country have rallied together in what has been an extraordinarily challenging time, in a bid to aid and support their communities

Pubs have been a vital asset in communities for many years, the last few months have demonstrated what a crucial role they play. Even with their doors closed, the efforts to serve local communities remains undiminished.

The support offered to those, particularly that cannot leave home or travel, is simply invaluableFrom turning pubs in to takeaways or shops, raising funds for the NHS, collecting and delivering care packages, giving away free food and hosting virtual quiz nights, publicans have done it all.

Never-ending support from Great British Pubs

It’s clear to see that current need for some, has been the need for others for a long time. Not only have publicans helped thousands of people during the Coronavirus Pandemic, their efforts to support their communities are never-ending. PubAid reports that over £100m is raised in pubs every year by hosting; quiz nights, raffles, sporting sponsors and events. For our unsung heroes, this is considered ‘the norm’.

We are entirely blown away by the courage and generosity we continuously see from publicans.
